************ Finally I am able to post the Xmas gifts I made last year. The first one is a tool box for my 7 year old son. And this is old Japanese carpenter tool box, like Blake just posted a photo here, (that was really amazing he did so a while ago!).
I wanted my son to be around the shop when he can now, yes I think he is old enough to experience some of them. So I decided to give some of his own tools and a tool box. As I said in the comment on Blake’s project, the secret of this box is the lid. The first photo is showing how is is closed all the way, and when you open it you just slide the lid to left, so it opens like the 2nd photo. If you carefully see the 2nd photo, you see the projection/wing of the right of the lid is half shorter than the right.
It is really an easy system, but works really great. it never opens if you shake the box or turns it up side down. The wisdom of the ancient carpenters!!!
The tools I put in the box are cheap, but I guess good enough to start for him. Someday he will put more tools in here and he will need another tool box, then I can teach how to make this box to him.
